Wimborne Community Garden Diary – Waitrose Green Tokens Scheme
With the start of the new year, Wimborne Community Garden received a wonderful letter saying that we have been selected to be part of Waitrose Green Tokens scheme this month. Anyone shopping at Waitrose can chose to nominate Wimborne Community Garden with their green token, meaning we stand to receive somewhere between £500 – £1,500 towards our next project.
We’ve asked for any monies we receive to go towards funding a mains toilet at the garden as this would not only be so useful for all of us who volunteer there but also for our growing number of visitors who come for a wander around the garden. If you would like to support the Community Garden with your tokens, we would be extremely grateful. Whatever happens, this is such a positive way to start 2026 and our sincere thanks goes to Waitrose for this opportunity.
You can also support our ongoing work by setting up regular giving via our donations page below…

We were also delighted to be presented with two lovely boards of printed artwork, created by a group of adults, some of whom are ex-Beaucroft students, called New Talents. They had made these striking pieces for us to put above our kitchen work surface as they depict many of the fruit and vegetables we grow and will be cooking with. Not only does the artwork look stunning, it’s also yet another part of the community contributing to making the garden what it is and we just love that. Again, I have to say, how lucky are we!
In the meantime, all our seeds have been ordered and we are waiting poised for the new planting season to begin. Let’s hope the weather proves to be garden- friendly this year. Onwards! – Jane, Wimborne Community Garden
