We’ve seen a 60% rise in those needing the Food Bank over the last 2 years

2024 saw Faithworks mark it’s 20th anniversary while Wimborne Food Bank+ turned 12 years old.

We continue to see a rise in the number of people needing our help including an increase in large families and pensioners, and with more than just food. Therefore the additional services we offer are as essential as emergency food including support with: money advice, cooking, clothing, staying warm and homelessness.

Our Life Centre provides a safe space for people to collect food, connect with additional services and meet with agencies such as Citizen’s Advice.

In addition to food parcels we provide weekly Cook Bags which include a recipe and all the ingredients needed to make a delicious savoury or sweet dish. Our food parcels include bakery and tinned items, fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, toiletries, and cleaning products.

Our incredible volunteers do so much including: collecting and sorting food donations, making and delivering food parcels, listening to people, providing money advice and helping at events. We could not continue our work without our wonderful team of dedicated, caring individuals.

Emma’s Story

When we first met Emma* she was sleeping in her car. She had lost her job and her home and used all her savings to pay for temporary accommodation.

Emma was frightened and needed our help. We organised for her to see The You Trust who placed her on the housing register.

We provided her with food and a safe space to chat with us. We also provided Emma with warm clothing, a personal alarm, gas stove, and referred her to our Community Money Advice team.

Emma was placed in temporary housing. Once she was housed we submitted two successful Acts435 grant applications for a cooker and washing machine, which were a huge help to her.

We walked alongside her throughout this journey – Emma wrote to describe the impact our support had on her life:

‘I wanted to write and thank you all properly for your kindness and compassion.

Your recent help gave me hope and was very uplifting at a time when all I had previously tried was unsuccessful. God Bless you all’ Emma*

Thank You & Looking Forwards

We would like to say a big Thank You to our regular supporters for your continued help. Your donations have meant that we have been able to provide support to every person and family that have come to us for help this year.

We would like to particularly thank the local schools, churches, the Wimborne Rotarians, Teacher’s Building Society, Fluffets, Waitrose Wimborne, One Stop in Colehill, local branches of the Coop and The Co-operative Food for their outstanding, continued support for all our work.

We are very thankful to the local Wimborne community who are extremely supportive, however overall food donations are not keeping up with the increased demand. We need more regular food donors to help keep our storehouse well-stocked – every donation, small or large, helps. Thank you.

Food Donation Points

Here at Faithworks we commit ourselves to take as much time as needed to help an individual get to a place of resilience – it may take over a year to help someone get free from the huge burden of debt.

We won’t stand still – we try new things and look for better ways to do what we do: we have opened a new venue for our Homelessness work; and started new training courses.

We will stay true to our values of being Welcoming, Alongside, Trusted, Practical and Empowering. And we’ll keep trusting God every step of the way.

We need your support. We are looking for individual donors to commit to giving £20 per month for 20 months to help write the next chapter of the Faithworks story. Will you join us by setting up a standing order?
