CEO of Hope into Action UK Visits New BCP Home

“Faithworks have a key strategic role to empower Christian social action across the BCP area and where there is such a huge housing need.” – Jon Kuhrt, CEO, Hope into Action UK

Thank you to Jon Kuhrt, CEO of Hope into Action UK, for bringing fresh inspiration to our homelessness work last week.  Jon’s visit included a tour of our homes and coincided with the imminent opening of our fourth Hope into Action home in BCP.

Hope into Action is a national charity enabling the church to house the homeless. Faithworks have the franchise for the BCP area and now have four homes in partnership with friendship teams from local churches. We want to double this by the end of next year.

Jon met with our CEO, Alistair, and our amazing Hope into Action team, as well as visiting the new home, supported by Lansdowne Church and a house supported by St Michael’s Church in Poole.

As the team discussed how we can expand the number of Hope into Action homes across BCP, Jon enthused:

“It was exciting to discuss the vision to grow the number of houses and offer more hope to people affected by homelessness.”

Stewart is an investor and church volunteer for the latest home. He became involved after hearing how the unique but simple housing model enables churches to provide ongoing support to those moving on from homelessness.

“What’s different about Hope into Action is that you have a whole team of people alongside… it’s not about putting people in a house, it’s about creating an environment in a home for them.”

Joe first came to Faithworks through our homelessness project, he is now living in one of the Hope into Action homes.  He shared about a time when he was asked to help others within his support group and described the change as: “Joey who was known as a criminal and a drug addict” and said being entrusted with the responsibility was “just a beautiful thing.”.

Joe has described his move into a Hope into Action property as having:

“A home with a room, rather than a room in a house”.

You can hear more of his story in our 20th anniversary celebration film below…
