Charity and businesses give families a day at Marwell Zoo

Caring local charity and businesses joined forces to donate a wonderful day out at Marwell Zoo for families at Poole Food Bank+.

Poole Lions Club, Tesco Tower Park, Branksome and Fleetsbridge and Howden Insurance together insured families had all they needed for their grand adventure!

Experiencing the great  outdoors increases mental and physical wellbeing with evidence demonstrating that, particularly for children, this can improve behaviour, achievement and social skills.

However for many young families facing food and financial crisis, a day out is simply a dream. But with support from Poole Food Bank+ and local businesses 20 family members, including children with Special Educational Needs, were given the opportunity to enjoy an incredible day!

“It’s been years since I have been to a place like this and being able to enjoy it with my children, was definitely a reason to have a huge smile on my face.” – Mum

A huge thanks to Poole Lions Club who both organised and gifted the family days out, Howden Insurance supplied fuel vouchers to get to the zoo while Tesco donated prepared snacks and packed lunches for every family member ensuring no one went hungry!
