Food Banks Need Regular Food Donations to Keep up with Need

With working individuals and families needing emergency food for the first time over the last few years, our Food Banks are busier than ever before.  We are finding that households may be working multiple jobs however incomes are still less than the basic cost of living. Some are reliant on Food Banks just to get through each month.

While loyal donors are as generous as ever, this increase in demand means that food donations are not keeping up with the amount of stock needed to meet need.

We are therefore running a campaign this harvest to ask people to become a regular food donor for one of our supported Food Banks in: Southbourne, Christchurch, Poole, Wimborne and Nourish (Blandford).

When donating food, people often think of tinned baked beans or soup. These are essential, however did you know that our Food Banks also give out toiletries, sanitary products and nappies among many other critical items?

One easy way to keep up to date with the latest needs is to download the Bank the Food App where you can select the Food Bank you wish to donate to. The App will send you handy reminders when in the supermarket, and regular updates can be set up as well.
