Southbourne Foodbank now supported by Bournemouth Foodbank
We are pleased to announce that the running of Southbourne Foodbank has now been transferred to Bournemouth Foodbank.
Here at Faithworks we have been walking alongside people in crisis for the last 20 years. Providing practical solutions that build hope and resilience for the future around food and financial poverty, lone parenting and homelessness.
Southbourne Foodbank offer emergency food for as long as it is needed and are a real benefit to the local community. For the last 12 months Faithworks have had the privilege of overseeing their amazing work at Immanuel Church, which has been so ably supported by Churches Together in Southbourne, and now we have passed the baton on to our friends at Bournemouth Foodbank.
Alistair Doxat-Purser, Faithworks CEO, said:
“We are honoured to have walked alongside Southbourne Foodbank over many years to have helped them flourish in serving their community so well.
Bournemouth Foodbank and their wonderful warehouse just up the road in Boscombe have worked very closely with us for many years, and their vast experience, skill and passion means of course that Southbourne Foodbank is in extremely safe hands.”
Bournemouth Foodbank’s vision is to see a fairer, hunger-free society where everyone has enough money to put food on their plate and a network of community support. They provided in excess of 115,000 meals and supported over 3,180 households with emergency food support between 2023-24.
“We are delighted to have Southbourne Foodbank and it’s team of volunteers, from the Churches Together in Southbourne, join our network of church based Foodbank distribution Hubs across Bournemouth.
Easier access to emergency food parcels is vital as we serve our local community.” – Martin Hancock, CEO, Bournemouth Foodbank
A huge thank you to everyone who supports Southbourne Foodbank – the dedicated volunteer team, the caring and giving local community, businesses and the churches that provide so much help. A special thanks to Immanuel Church who generously host Southbourne Foodbank.
