What are Faithworks Lifecentres?
Lifecentres are vibrant community hubs offering a range of support services all in one place. They provide safe spaces where people can meet others, connect with practical help, and build strong, supportive communities.
They offer access to essentials like foodbanks, debt advice, school uniforms, hygiene products, emergency holiday food, housing support, community meals, recipe kits, and budget-friendly cooking courses.
Centres are designed with informal café spaces for people to connect, discuss their challenges, and access additional advice from agencies like Citizens Advice.
With Faithworks CMA teams on-site, Lifecentres offer free debt advice, budgeting support, and a caring, hands-on approach to help people navigate their financial struggles. Our friendly teams work alongside individuals to find practical solutions and create lasting change.
Ian Stoney, Poole Lifecentre Manager explained:
‘People’s lives are at the heart of everything we do. Lifecentres are welcoming spaces where everyone feels accepted and supported, especially in times of crisis.
We walk alongside individuals with care and trust, providing whole-person support that is both practical and empowering.
With a team of specialists working together, we create a friendly environment where people can access resources, find community, and gain the courage to move forward and change their lives.’

One example of this is James’* story from Poole Lifecentre: James has gone from homelessness, disconnection and isolation to reconnecting with family, dignity, taking practical steps towards finding a home, and thriving in community.
James is in his 60’s, has multiple chronic health issues and is street homeless. He first started coming to Poole Lifecentre for monthly food parcels but continued to drop in for regular chats with the team.
As trust was built, the team encouraged him to contact his GP to request a letter in support of his housing application, which has placed him in a better position for accommodation.
Recently James’ father passed away – the team arranged for him to have a haircut, shave, a new outfit and a bus pass so that he could attend the funeral. James was able to reconnect with his family.
Illana Smith, Poole Lifecentre, explained:
‘It’s not possible to put into words the changes we can already see [in James] and we celebrate his progress, as well as his newly retrieved sense of humour!’
