Wimborne Foodbank+ Issue Urgent Food Appeal Following Break In
Wimborne Foodbank+ have issued an urgent food appeal following a theft from their food store. The incident was discovered after the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Michelle Kratzke, Deputy Manager explained:
‘We were devastated to discover our food store was broken into over the bank holiday weekend, adding additional pressure to our already busy team following the Easter period.
This now leaves our shelves extremely bare, so if anyone can help us by donating financially or giving extra food items via our collection points, this will help us to continue supporting those in food poverty.’

Sara, a volunteer at the Foodbank, described how the incident affected her:
‘So many people support the Foodbank in so many ways, and it’s an honour to be a part of this. Helping those who most need support, whatever their circumstances, is community at its best.
The break in to the food store was obviously very disheartening, but we know that with the support of our amazing local communities that good will win in the end.’
Wimborne Foodbank+ have seen a 60% increase in the number of people needing the support of their support over the last 2 years.
The Foodbank provided over 1,175 emergency food parcels throughout 2024, as well as additional support including: CMA debt advice, recipe bags, school holiday food support, and their extremely popular free family fun events.
The team were recently presented with a Gold Award in the Outstanding Community Support category at the Wimborne Business Awards, recognising the incredible dedication and hard work of the staff and 62 wonderful volunteers.

- Wednesdays, 10am – 12pm
- Fridays, 12pm – 4pm
