Wimborne Foodbank Join BBC Radio Solent Soapbox Appeal
Hygiene poverty affects 4.2 million adults in the UK*.
Wimborne Foodbank+ have joined forces with BBC Radio Solent to help address hygiene poverty through the radio’s Soapbox Appeal.
The campaign is running across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and seeks to ease some of the pressures families face through the cost of living by providing donation points for toiletries and cleaning products.
Wimborne Foodbank+ is collecting donations which will be distributed via food parcels.
Sharon Keenan, Wimborne Foodbank+ Manager, explained:
“We are proud to partner with BBC Radio Solent on their Soapbox Appeal.
Those experiencing food crisis, are also often struggling to afford household necessities such as soap, sanitary products and toilet paper. It’s essential that we provide these household items for people’s wellbeing and dignity.”
Although the Soapbox Appeal officially finishes at the end of January. Wimborne Foodbank+ will continue to distribute toiletries and household cleaning products on an ongoing basis.
From deodorant to period products, and from household cleaning items to toilet paper – we need more regular donations to help build up our store cupboard. Could you add an item to your weekly food shop?
You can find a full list of items needed below – simply leave in one of our donation bins located in supermarkets (see our web page below). Or drop off to Wimborne Foodbank+, Leigh Park Community Centre, Gordon Road, Wimborne, BH21 2AP, Wednesdays, 10am – 12pm, Fridays, 12pm – 4pm.
