Still Inspiring: Celebrating Volunteer Barry’s 90th Birthday
Trainees, volunteers and staff recently came together at The Carpentry Workshop to celebrate Barry’s milestone 90th birthday.
Barry first heard about the Faithworks Training Carpentry Workshop during a talk at his church. His immediate response was, “That’s something I can do!” Seven years later, he remains a much-valued part of the team and an invaluable presence in the workshop. Drawing on a lifelong career in carpentry, Barry shares invaluable skills, knowledge and encouragement with trainees, helping them build both confidence and practical experience.
Georgia from the Faithworks Training team said:
“He is an amazing man to have around. He inspires everyone he meets and gives back so much to the community.
Seven years later, Barry is instrumental in the workshop, and his lifelong career as a carpenter offers so much to our trainees.”
To mark the occasion, the team celebrated with a birthday party in the workshop and, of course, a delicious homemade cake!
Barry’s story is a powerful reminder that you’re never too old to make a difference through volunteering. Whatever your age, experience or interests, there are opportunities to use your skills and support others. Whether it’s helping with carpentry, cooking, childcare or one of our many other projects, everyone has something valuable to contribute.
