Mental Health Friendly Church Training Day – 11 October 2025
We are proud to partner with Kintsugi Hope in providing the upcoming mental health friendly church training day on Saturday 11 October 2025, 10am – 4pm.
This event is for volunteers serving in cafés, Warm Welcome Spaces, community meals, coffee mornings, and other outreach activities across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.
Together, we’ll explore how to better understand mental health, reduce stigma, and offer compassionate, practical support to those we meet day by day.
The training will be led by Claire Miles, Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead for Kintsugi Hope. Clarie is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 20 years of experience working in the NHS, and she now helps lead Kintsugi Hope’s Mental Health Friendly Church project, delivering training across the UK.
Key areas will include:
- Reflecting on a robust theology of mental health and how faith can shape our understanding and our response
- An overview of common mental health conditions and practical ways to respond appropriately
- Introduction to trauma-informed practice and learn how to support people with care and sensitivity
- Looking after your own wellbeing while supporting others

This training day is one example of how our Church Partnerships team empower churches across Bournemouth and East Dorset to help them deliver practical support, provide genuine connection and spiritual hope in their local communities.
Designed for church leaders, community mission pioneers, Christian funders, and anyone at a church who wants to make a real difference. Using taster sessions, mapping, training and more we will help you to innovate creative ways to serve the local community.
“Working with Faithworks Church Partnerships team has been transformative for us in making a difference to those in need.
It reminds us to dream dreams and see beyond our own situation to play our part in a bigger story” – Sarah Yetman, Vicar of St Mike’s and St John’s.
