Last month Wimborne Food Bank+ launched their first community meal. Held at Elim Church, nineteen people came together to enjoy the autumnal mince, mashed potato and vegetables, followed by pineapple upside down cake covered in custard.
Sharon, Wimborne Food Bank+ Manager said: “As a response to the cost of living crisis we wanted to work alongside the churches of Wimborne to ensure that there are regular Warm Space events and meals going on across Wimborne for the next few months. Our first one worked really well and we are all looking forward to our next one on the 8th December.”
The meal created an opportunity for locals to get together and make new friends. Two single older ladies hit it off so well that they have named themselves “The Rocking Nanas” and decided to try another warm spaces event together.
One of The Rocking Nanas said: “Had an amazing afternoon & the meal was beautiful. The ladies again were amazing. I met Victoria and we have named ourselves The Rocking Nanas. Thank you again my angels.”
The next community meal will be on Thursday 8 December where there will be a free two course hot meal, board and card games and a homework area.
The most important task of the evening – cutting the Pineapple Upside Down Cake!
The Wimborne Food Bank+ team love to have fun and are encouraging those attending to wear a Christmas jumper, however this is only an option!
