Wimborne Food Bank+ Free Family Fun Day

Food Bank+ is about so much more than just food. Wimborne Food Bank+ demonstrated this by holding a free family fun day over the bank holiday weekend. Held at a time when many summer events and festivals are happening however many are costly particularly when taking the whole family.  The event provided local families the opportunity to enjoy a free day out without worrying about the extra cost on already stretched budgets.

Funding enabled local businesses to provide a free hot meal for local families as well as an ice cream in the hot weather. The day also included face painting, tumble tots soft play, a raffle and more.

Local organisation, The Creature Teachers, were extremely popular with all generations queuing to hold a python, giant stick insect, an owl and even a rather large cockroach! Facial expressions did vary throughout the queue!

As Wimborne Food Bank+ head for their 10th anniversary later this month, they continue to provide essential support such as free debt advice, school holiday parcels, women’s clothing support, recipe bags and more.
