Stories of Change: Local Funding Transforming Lives
Faithworks teams, including Poole Lifecentre and Foodbank, Christchurch Foodbank+, and our Community Money Advice service, attended the wonderful recent “Stories of Change” event hosted by BCP Council and Dorset Community Foundation. The event highlighted the impact of local funding and the difference community groups are making across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Rising living costs, food insecurity, and social isolation continue to push people into crisis. Many rely on emergency support, but short-term relief alone is not enough to rebuild stability, confidence, and connection.
Funding from the BCP Food and Energy Support Fund has enabled Faithworks to go far beyond food parcels.

Alistair Doxat Purser, Faithworks CEO said:
“Funding has changed lives far beyond food. People feel truly seen, met with compassion and understanding, and the words people used-‘heart-warming’ and ‘more please’ say it all.”
Tracy Blick, Christchurch Food Bank+ Manager, added:
“This funding provides way more than food. Everyone’s journey may start with food but ends with hope. Community suppers give people connection and a safe space.”
Illana Smith, Poole Lifecentre Manager, said:
“Through the introduction of our Financial Resilience Coordinators, we are now able to walk alongside individuals as they move from crisis to stability, and from reliance to resilience…
We are already seeing the impact. Some of those we have supported are now standing confidently on their own two feet.”

The event showcased the real difference local funding can make. People are gaining confidence, rebuilding stability, and reconnecting with their communities. Faithworks is proud to be part of this work across Poole and Christchurch, demonstrating how practical support, financial guidance, and welcoming spaces create lasting hope and resilience.
